My Ultimate Bedroom

#hearthomebettaliving

For me, a bedroom signifies a sanctuary. A private place to get away from the stresses of life, to relax, unwind and dream. It should also be a sensuous area and for that reason the decor, colours, and accessories should be sumptuous, sophisticated and timeless.

For this reason,  my ultimate bedroom i have tried to create here features soft dove grey tones with accents of silver, oyster with vibrant 'pops' of colour to keep it fresh whilst maintaining an air of luxury . I love love love Teal and Turquoise with these grey/silver tones. It not too feminine and not too masculine - it's just right!

The bed should be the focal point the room and i'm a stickler for liking everything symmetrical and feel that if possible the bed should be central to the room. Fabrics play an amazing part in helping to dress my room and I love how lots of layering but in different textures such as silk, cotton and wool help to create depth and movement - it will make the room seem less formal and conservative!!

Although furniture is a necessity in a bedroom i do think that this can be both practical and beautiful!! A beautiful chair placed by a window dressed with a cushion makes a great reading space and large mirrored, built in wardrobes are great for storage, and hide shoes, makeup and other things that can create clutter. They also help bounce light around the room and help create an airy and light space no matter the size of the room.

For my room, various forms of lighting are a necessary! A beautiful chandelier will help to 'dress' the room and keep it within my idea of sophisticated and sumptuous (whilst adding a bit of glamour) but a well placed couple lamps either on bedside tables or in a corner help create a lovely cosy glow without the harshness of a central ceiling light. Lamps are much more practical for reading too!

Accessories also play a part in helping to dress the room and make it feel 'Yours' by adding a personal touch. I love family photo's and collages - after all - you don't want to make it feel like a hotel room! I a huge believe in positive thinking and adore the slogan wall paintings or stickers.
Waking up in a beautiful, uncluttered bedroom, seeing an inspiring or positive message and images of family and happy times are the best way to start the day!
